HAWKS OPEN SEASON WITH CONVINCING WIN

The New Look Thunder Bay Northern Hawks, felt right at home in their new home at the Fort William Gardens Saturday with a 9-4 win over the visiting Nipigon Elks.  The first  40  minutes saw the Hawks control the play as they outshot the Elks 27-9 only to come out with a 4-3 lead.  The  final 20 saw the hawks dominate throughout the ice and blowing it wide open and cruising to a 9-4 final.  Rookie Michael Canning lead the attack with 2G and 2A, while 2022-23 Leading Scorer and LJHL MVP Matthew Himanen had 1G and 4A.  Recently acquired Matthew Caccamo had 1 G and 2 A while singles went to Matthew Crupi, Dawson Watts, Cohen Aduonno, Alex Rollason, Matthew Pogue and Chase Ellis.  Eduorad Piche won his first LJHL game in net stopping 14 shots. The Hawks look to continue rolling on Wednesday October 11, as they take on defending regular season champs the Schrieber Falcons at the Fort William Gardens.  Puck drop is 8:00pm
