Storm won all six contests, outscoring the Bandits 47-9

"One takeaway I'd had from this year is just how resilient our team is. There's been a few games where we've been down a few goals going into the third period and we seemed to always claw our way back into games," said Storm Captain Mitch Moore.

The Storm are looking for a return trip to the Central Canada Cup in Saint Paul, Alberta after losing in the semi-finals last year in Flin Flon, Manitoba.

Moore acknowledged that the team wants another shot, adding “I was very proud of the season we had. We are more focused on making it back this year; we have had some talks, and the returning players definitely learnt a lot from that loss, and we know what to expect this time around.”

The Storm averaged seven goals a game during the regular season, but Moore knows that offence can be hard to come by in the playoffs.

“The Bandits are a hard-working team; anything can happen in a playoff game. We have an extremely confident group here and as long as we work hard and play our game, I don’t see them giving us any challenges.”

Both franchises have won a single Joe Ward Memorial Trophy (Storm 2024, Bandits 2022).

Bandits Captain Darian Smith was contacted to take part in this article.
