“I’ve noticed this season [that] we got a lot of young talent and a good solid group of guys,” indicates Northern Hawks Captain Jack Michaelis. “When we play a full 60 minutes of hockey, we have no problem winning.
The Northern Hawks franchise has been to every Joe Ward Memorial Trophy Final since 2004, winning twelve championships.
The success of the Northern Hawks franchise is not lost of Michaelis and credits the whole team for having standout moments throughout the season.
“The Falcons have a good fast team with skill as well, but if we play the games like we know we can, we won’t have a problem going back to the finals,” Michaelis noted.
The Falcons were last in the league championship in 2023 and have never won the Joe Ward Memorial Trophy.
“We’ve had conversations all year about what to do in the room," admitted Captain Owen Keene, when asked if last year's loss to the Northern Hawks is discussed. "We know what needs to be done it’s all a matter of putting it all together.”
The Northern Hawks advanced to the league final in six games in 2024.
“I feel Brett Graver has had an unreal season,” Keene recognized. “He’s been great in the corners and has been doing everything right this year.”
“The [Northern] Hawks have posed a challenge for the last four years. They have lots of skill, but if we battle hard and shut those guys down we can be successful.”
