This summer has been anything but quiet for LJHL clubs as they are taking shape for the 2024-2025 campaign.
The defending Joe Ward Memorial champion Current River Storm and Thunder Bay Bandits came together on a deal in July with the Storm receiving Braeden Duchesne, formerly of the Kam River Fighting Walleye (SIJHL), and John Whitfield.
The Bandits picked up Brandon McKinnon along with prospects Emerson Degiacomo, Graydon Pollock and Noah Bannon.
Duchesne had a pair of brief stints with the Thunder Bay Bandits, registering four points in a 10-6 win over the Thunder Bay Northern Hawks on January 4, 2024. He played three seasons with the Fighting Walleye, helping them win the 2023 Bill Salonen Cup.
Whitfield picked up 33 points in 26 regular season games last season with the Bandits to go along with eleven points in the semi-finals against Current River.
The 20-year-old McKinnon joins the Bandits after collecting 37 points in 30 regular season games last season.
The Storm have also signed rookies Nolen Sloan, Aiden Kristjanson, Michael Arnone, Hudson Gerry, and Levi Lucas.
The 18-year-old Sloan was picked first overall in the 2024 Prospect Draft on May 16.
The Bandits put pen to paper with Sam Migay, who will be playing in his fourth season for the club.
Defenceman Sebastian Yellowhead and Goaltender Nick Pavletic, who were picked in the 2024 Prospect Draft on May 16, join the team.
Other commitments include Jesse-James Biley, Nolan LaFreniere, Ashton Barnes, Kaelen Sherman, Nick Filice, Matias Maenpaa, Ethan Mackay, Ryan Herman, Evan Beaulne, Ethen Friesen, Alex Arella, Fisher Smith, and Jack McLeod.
The Schreiber Falcons have also had a busy off-season with several commitments, including Defenceman Drew Caddo.
Caddo spent a majority of the last three seasons with the Thunder Bay North Stars (SIJHL) but did also suit up in ten games last season with Falcons, compiling four points.
The team will also see the return of Captain Owen Keene.
Other returnees include Isaac Magill, Nolan Height, Kai Vanska, Tyler Kinisky, Adam Dubinsky, Nick Figliomeni, Girolamo Figliomeni, Lucas Romeo, Liam Speziale, Blake Speziale, and Matt Valiquette.
